We were excited to learn today that we have once again been selected as an honoree in the Louisville Business First Partners in Philanthropy program and will be recognized at a virtual event on August 6th. Stay tuned for more info about this year’s program and honorees.
Meanwhile you can read about the 2020 Partners in Philanthropy program, where we topped the list for the most volunteer hours in the medium company category. Not only was DMLO in the Top 10 for our category, but Rodefer Moss of Southern Indiana, who we merged with last October, also made the list. Together, we are having an even greater impact in our communities!
Why is corporate philanthropy important to your company?
We believe our purpose and value extends beyond providing financial advice to business and community leaders. It includes being fully engaged with a client’s dreams and goals, adding our expertise and experience to the mix to achieve more than could be accomplished otherwise.
WWhat does giving back mean to your company?
Volunteering time, particularly when integrated into the workplace experience, adds more meaning and purpose to the lives of our professionals. Being outside the office with co-workers in volunteer settings and developing stronger relationships with those who share a common passion is valuable. Our #DMLOCares brand is often an advantage in attracting and retaining talented professionals, who find it rewarding to be part of a firm that prioritizes community service and social impact. It also leads to new opportunities and connections with business and community leaders who share our vision and values.
What makes your company’s corporate philanthropy giving unique?
Giving back is ingrained in our culture. It is a core value and key element of our More than the Numbers brand, and we ask all employees to participate in some way.
We celebrate each anniversary with a DMLO Day of Service. Directors and staff go out in teams to local nonprofit organizations to serve in whatever way they request help for the day.
We work with approximately 250 nonprofit organizations in Kentucky and Indiana, and provide support in a variety of ways, from serving on boards or committees, to hosting tables or teams for fundraiser programs, to coordinating internal donation campaigns, to directly volunteering on projects like building a playground, landscaping, office work, event planning, or financial assistance. It is very meaningful for us to be part of their stories. Each mission and cause is worthwhile, and we strive to maximize the impact of our resources of time and funds.
We were one of the first companies to pledge multi-year financial support to Canopy (canopyky.org) and to sign the Kentucky Charter for Good Business. Canopy is a nonprofit with a mission of Making Kentucky First in Good Business, by working with for-profit businesses to identify, measure and grow their social and environmental impact. We want to be known as the advisors of choice for social entrepreneurs.
