We are very pleased to announce the expansion of our service to the medical and dental community through the acquisition of Healthcare Practice Consultants, LLC (HPC). The successor to Service Bureau for Doctors, founded in 1930, HPC is believed to be the oldest continuous physician and dental practice management consulting firm in the country.
Working with hundreds of physicians and dentists throughout Kentucky and Indiana, HPC provides practice management, tax, and accounting services, helping streamline practices and enhance operational management.
Steve Custer leads the physician services group. Steve served as a consultant with HPC from 2009-2011 providing tax consultation as well as practice startup and transition advice to clients, until joining DMLO. In addition to tax planning & compliance and accounting services, the group will offer oversight in new practice set-up, collections management, personnel training and evaluation, physician compensation arrangements, benchmarking, practice surveys, practice valuation/M&A services, and ongoing consultation.
The acquisition is part of DMLO’s strategic plan to acquire firms that have the ability to strengthen existing niches, similar to the acquisition in 2011 of Weinberg & Associates, a local tax practice. HPC will continue to operate and be known as Healthcare Practice Consultants.
