DMLO Director and former President Jennifer Hughes will join forty other influential women in Louisville – and many more in over 40 cities around the country – on April 3rd, to participate in the annual Bizwomen Mentoring Monday at the Olmsted. Mentoring Monday is two-hour breakfast and networking event that brings together women in a casual, fast-paced atmosphere to network and offer career advice, tips and guidance. It is part of a nationwide effort to encourage and support mentoring in the business community. The format includes breakfast and networking from 8:00-8:30, a small presentation, and then 45 plus minutes of mentoring.
Mentors represent a variety of industries and professions, from small-business owners and bankers to attorneys and executives at some of the most powerful companies and nonprofit organizations.
This will be the third year that Jennifer has been asked to serve as a Bizwomen Mentor. Reflecting on her prior experiences, she shared:
“It is a great event, and the experience is invaluable not only for the mentees but for us mentors as well. It is inspiring to meet women of all ages and at various stages in their careers. One thing that stood out to me as I spoke with the women who sought my advice, is that many times they have the answers to whatever career struggle or decision they are dealing with, but just need to talk it through with an unbiased person, and get encouragement to move forward. I am honored to share pearls of wisdom from my personal journey, but I also learn so much from the women I talk with.”
